Cindy Vair biography head shot

Cindy Vair – Clerk/Assistant

Cindy began her career in law in 1985 working as a receptionist for a small Barrie Law firm. One of the lawyers started assigning tasks on real estate files among her duties of general reception. Over the next few years, Cindy worked her way from her entry level position of receptionist to being a senior residential real estate assistant.

In 1990 she started attending the Registry Office conducting searches of title and closing real estate transactions. Discovering that she enjoyed the challenge of searching titles which was a detailed endeavour and learning and memorizing statues and dates such as Planning Act forgiveness among other things was an absolute necessity. Cindy started taking law related courses at Georgian College in Conveyancing, Law and Procedures and Title searching and opened her own business providing title searches to various lawyers and law firms.

Since the advent of the electronic land registration system in Ontario, known as Teraview, the demand for title searching in the local Land Registry office has declined as lawyers can now complete much of the searching onlne. As a result of this change, Cindy returned to College in 1999 and ultimately obtained her Law Clerk’s Diploma with Honours from the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.

In 2007 Cindy joined Owen Thompson as his real estate clerk and continues to bring with her many years of experience in all facets of real estate law to the firm. From communicating with clients outlining the process of buying, selling or mortgaging a property and answering any questions they may have through to the closing of their real estate transaction Cindy is always dedicated to assisting clients with their real estate transactions.
